Where do we stand in the fight against tax avoidance? What is the role of taxes in today’s increasingly polarized global environment? These and more questions will be answered at the farewell conference of Arnold Merkies, who has been the frontman of the Dutch Tax Justice movement in the past years.

On April 14, SOMO is organizing a conference on Tax Justice in Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam, where Jan van de Streek (Leiden University), Tove Ryding (Eurodad), Indra Römgens (Radboud University), Liz Nelson (Tax Justice Network), Luc Stultiens (GroenLinks/PvdA) and Vincent Kiezebrink (SOMO) will talk about the current state of affairs, about what we have reached so far and about the challenges that still lie ahead of us. The discussions will be led by Kido Koenig of FMS and by Dolf Jansen, who’s been involved in campaigns of Tax Justice as ambassador of Oxfam Novib.
